Students at APIIT benefit from the 3+0 partnership with Staffordshire University, UK from their expertise & experience

Our Advertising and Brand Management programme focuses on exploring creativity and practice through research, theory and studio projects. A variety of methods are used to develop and assess your learning and progression.

They are all designed to reinforce the strategy of integrating the intellectual and experiential processes of learning in a creative studio environment so that you have confidence and experience of the advertising industry environment before graduation with well developed creative thinking skills.

Our programme is committed to building your confidence in your own powers of communication. Each student is supported in developing their key skills and approaches at every part of the process.

Through each level our students are exposed to increasingly complex challenges to their ability to communicate their ideas, whether through a presentation of research findings to their peers, written academic argument or, when dealing with a practical brief, communicating creative concepts to a client.

Teaching methods include:

  • Studio teaching takes place in dedicated studios. This practice contributes substantially to your independence as a learner and industry approaches.
  • Lectures, including lecturers by industry professionals.
  • Seminars and discussion groups.
  • Group critiques. Students present their work to the group of staff and students for progress review. Active participation in critiques provides a valuable opportunity to develop confidence in presentation and communication skills.
  • Tutorials for providing feedback on progress as well as encouraging analysis and reflection.
  • Technical instruction of software etc taught by the technical instruction team.
  • Study visits take place in agencies, we also visit, exhibitions and conferences, and introduce you to industry contacts and working practices.
  • We are committed to developing and sustaining a professional approach to work and our students are expected to use all of the allocated learning time for work/practice/research in all modules within the open access studio environment.

The first year of the programme introduces you to the foundations and key skills and related industry practices as well as diagnosing your current skill base. You will become involved in all aspects of the creative process from initial brief to final production. The emphasis is on progression towards the ability to self-manage project work.

Modules in the second year foster more independent, project orientated modes of study, and you develop further understanding

of advertising strategy, copywriting and digital platforms as well as ethical issues.

With continued support and supervision and focus on your skills portfolio you begin to develop competence in the key skills required in the industry and learn how to employ these effectively either individually or as part of a creative team.

In the final year of the programme most modules are studio-based and will often centre on a brief set by the module leader, an external agency, live client or competition brief.

This kind of learning model focuses on developing creative insight and research process leading to an effective client pitch, which is assessed. This tests your abilities against the processes used within the industry.

Top Private Universities in Malaysia for the Best Public Relations Degree Programmes

List of the Best Private Universities in Malaysia to Study Top Public Relations (PR) Degree Courses

Written by EduSpiral Consultant Services For more information contact 01111408838

Students interested in studying Public Relations should be good in languages, like to socialise with people, have an outgoing personality, possess strategic thinking, like to write, organise events, a creative mind, and lots of energy.

A good command of the English language is very important for a successful career in Public Relations. Students need to choose a university where the students speak mainly in English and experience in offering the programme. If you are weak in English, it will be very difficult for you to maintain the image of your company with bad English. You will not be able to write good press releases and copy for the brochures. Coming up with good taglines or campaign ideas for your product or company will be almost impossible. Having a good command of both English and Mandarin would be very advantageous. However, if you are only proficient in Mandarin, you will not be able to get jobs in top multinational or global companies

It is important to choose the best private universities and colleges in Malaysia to ensure that you get the necessary training and skills to succeed in the competitive workforce. Choosing a private university with an English-speaking student environment will help you to improve your language skills. The university should also be equipped with the necessary facilities such as recording studio, photo studio, computer lab and some have Mac Computers. Experienced & qualified lecturers are essential to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in the mass communication career.

Public relations is the process of providing information to the public in order to present a specific view of a product or organization. Public relations differs from advertising in that it is less obtrusive, and aimed at providing a more comprehensive opinion to a large audience in order to shape public opinion. Unlike advertising, public relations professionals only have control until the message is related to media gatekeepers who decide where to pass the information on to the audience

Public relations is the professional management of external and internal communications to build the reputation of a company or cause. Today’s PR Specialists work on developing beneficial relationships in cities, governments, corporations, consumers, media, charities and communities to manage the relationships and communication channels.

Public relations (PR) is the way organisations, companies and individuals communicate with the public and media. A PR specialist communicates with the target audience directly or indirectly through media with an aim to create and maintain a positive image and create a strong relationship with the audience.

The PR Specialist uses a wide variety of communication tools and techniques such as the press releases, newsletters, public events, conventions, newspapers, billboards, blogs, social media, websites, TV, radio, etc.

The business world is very competitive and in order to win new customers and keep the existing ones, companies have to set themselves apart from the competition. But they also need to create and maintain a positive public image.

A PR specialist or firm helps them both create and maintain a good reputation among both the media and the customers by communicating in their behalf and presenting their products, services and the overall brand in a positive manner they will remember. A positive public image helps create a strong relationship with the customers which in turn increases the sales.

What is Lembaga Akitek Negara (LAM) and Becoming a Professional Architect in Malaysia

The architecture profession in Malaysia is protected by law. The regulating and governing body of the architecture profession in

Award-winning architecture design from UCSI University
Award-winning architecture design from UCSI University

Malaysia is known as Lembaga Akitek Negara (LAM). They govern the entire profession starting from the definition of an architect under the Malaysian Constitution, licensing, practice, acts and enactments as well as education.

The other body that concerns the well being of architects themselves is Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia.

It functions as an association that takes care of its members, organize functions and manages the professional development of an architect from the lowest to highest qualification. Just like Bar exams for lawyers, architects also require certain level of qualification that is a standard worldwide.

The qualifications are known as LAM Part 1, 2 and 3. The equivalent of this is RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects), AIA (American Institute of Architects) and RAIA (Royal Australian Institute of Architects).

After graduating with Part 2, a person is known as an architect, and will be able to practice according to the job specification of an architect. This should be the minimum target of anyone pursuing this profession. Anything less is a waste of time.

These qualifications can be obtained in two ways:

  • Obtaining a fully accredited degree (or equivalent) that carries Part 1 or 2 equivalent.
  • Sitting for individual exams after obtaining a non-accredited degree for Part or 2.

Part 3 can only be obtained after practicing as an architect for a minimum of 2 years and fulfilling all the project requirements set by LAM.

Fulfilling these needs, the architect will then submit themselves to a series of interviews and exams to determine that they are capable and absolutely qualified. These exams are conducted by Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM).

Study the BSc. (Hons) Architecture Degree at UCSI University

Architecture is the art of designing the human built environment. Buildings are one of the most visible productions of man, and

Architecture students at UCSI University receive personal attention from their lecturers

vary greatly in design, function, and construction implementation across the globe. The vision that Architects conceive is projected onto the society and the built environment in which they practice.

These conceptions and ideas will inadvertently have profound effects on the built environment, and consequently on the people who interact with that environment.

Architecture is, therefore, an art form, the learning of which requires professional practice, personal artistic development and technical knowledge of building.

The constant dialogue between society and the architect is what produces architecture – as a product and as well as a discipline.

Designing Functional Legacies at Taylor’s University

At SABD,Taylor’s University goal is to elevate our research centre, The Center for Modern Architecture Studies in Southeast Asia (MASSA), into a renowned research centre in Southeast Asia.

We intend to address the urgent need to include modern architecture as part of the architectural heritage in Southeast Asia, thus aiding the process of planning settlements and designing buildings that are suited to the context and continuity of the cultures of Southeast Asia.

As part of our initiatives to document our heritage, the students visited Kampung Cina, Kuala Terengganu, to examine the site and produce detailed drawings. These drawings were subsequently used to restore a temple to its former glory, after it was partly ruined in a fire.

Other research projects undertaken by our students include:

  • Modern Architecture Kuala Lumpur Series featuring Masjid Negara, Muzium Negara, Stadium Negara, Stadium Chin Woo and British Council
  • The Inventory of Sungai Buloh Leprosy Settlements, Selangor
  • Chapel of St. Francis Institution, Malacca
  • No. 6, Hereen Street, Bandar Hilir, Malacca
